I wanted to experiment with mixing some of the material I had gathered from moving image, night time stills and drawings from the off cuts of boat building from the Workman’s Boat Club. I am interested in layering the media and materials echoing the forms and blurring between drawing and still image and looking at the moving image as a constantly moving tracing line so sometimes the forms hover or appear to be there like an afterimage or echo.
Over the course of a month we downloaded images every day from 6am-9pm from the webcam situated in Clonmel to gauge water levels on the River Suir.
I was really struck by the wooden forms in the Workman’s Boat Club – the peculiarity and particularity of these forms to the boat building craft and the refinement of these forms so that each one fits, it just fits. I would like to work with these drawings further – they may form the stills of a short film.
